Have Questions? We Have Answers!
- Are "keywords" really that important?
Keywords are really important but of equal importance is how the keywords are used. Sometimes you may have the perfect keywords but if they are poorly used Search Engines may not find them. Properly emphasized keywords are indeed an asset when it comes to search engine optimization. How many do you need? No one really knows the answer to that question. What is known is that the industry standard is between 5-10.
- Can web pages done entirely in Flash, PHP, or ASP be indexed by search engines?
Search Engine's spiders, robots or crawlers cannot read sites built entirely with ASP, Flash or PHP. Search Engines cannot read sites built with most WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) applications, especially on the Macintosh Platform, because they use compilers. Since they can't be read they cannot be ranked or positioned.
But if you are truly In love with your site in its unsearchable format
Then you need expert advise to do it for you. Our mother ship Position
Front Page knows a work around.
- How do you know a good SEO company from a bad one?
Have you ever heard the expression "You get what you pay for". It applies to SEO services. Top class firms employ top class consultants. Those guys know how to get the job done. Medium sized companies and some up and coming small companies think they cannot afford those services but the can. They just need the proper offer.
SEO companies that charge outrages fees should be avoided but medium sized enterprises with a solid fee structure are the guys you should deal with. Our mother ship is one such company. Stable, reliable, and proven and no company is too big or too small for their services. And they can make you a deal that you won't believe. It isn't cheap but its effective and proven to work. - Do you guys know the page ranking algorithm?
The answer to that question is a resounding "No", but we can show you an example of a simplified version of it. Thanks to the guys at Wikipedia! for this bit of info.
Simplified PageRank Algorithm
Suppose a small universe of four web pages: A, B,C and D. The initial approximation of PageRank would be evenly divided between these four documents. Hence, each document would begin with an estimated PageRank of 0.25.
If pages B, C, and D each only link to A, they would each confer 0.25 PageRank to A. All PageRank PR( ) in this simplistic system would thus gather to A because all links would be pointing to A.
|
|
|
But then suppose page B also has a link to page C, and page D has links to all three pages. The value of the link-votes is divided among all the outbound links on a page. Thus, page B gives a vote worth 0.125 to page A and a vote worth 0.125 to page C. Only one third of D's PageRank is counted for A's PageRank (approximately 0.081).
|
|
|
In other words, the PageRank conferred by an outbound link L( ) is equal to the document's own PageRank score divided by the normalized number of outbound links (it is assumed that links to specific URLs only count once per document).
